Mark DeBoer has been spending some time racing on dirt this year for the team. Mark took a trip to Springfield recently to take a first place win at the Marmaton Massacre.
“Marmaton was my first mountain bike race since September 2014. I knew I had a good engine from road racing the past three years but I was afraid I lost some of my off road skills. That was not the case. I entered the single track with a few second lead and built a large lead for a decisive win.”
“For the Sunflower State Games I moved into the cat 2 race. I entered the single track in second position and after having to pass some unfortunate traffic the race was decided early on. The technical, hilly, and rocky course tested my limits but I still managed second place.
The Show Me State race was a two lap loop on a wide variety of trail. Rocky tech in the beginning to lung busting climbs to finish. For the first lap a group of three formed at the front and we all rode together pretty comfortably until the climbs. One was dropped and me and another started the second lap together. The other racer flatted in the rocks and I found myself alone. I rode careful so not to crash or flat in the tech. About half way through the lap another racer caught up and the race was back on. He was able to descend faster than me but I could climb better. I got to the last climb ahead and powered up it for the win.”
Mark’s next mountain bike race will be the OMBA Caramba Mountain Bike Race.
